Returns & Exchanges at My Fabric Dresser

At My Fabric Dresser, your satisfaction is just as important to us as the quality of our fabrics, tools, and sewing supplies. We know that sometimes an order might not be quite right, and we’re here to make the process of returns or exchanges as simple and clear as possible.

 

Important Note About Preorders

Because pre-order fabric is limited time runs and allocated specifically for the orders they are placed, all pre-orders are final sale and cannot be refunded.  Any cancellations made for current pre-orders must be made within 48 hours of the pre-order round closing date or we will not be able to accommodate. However, if we made a mistake with your order, or if an item arrives damaged or defective, we will make it right. Please read the details below before making a return request.

 

Timeframe for Returns or Exchanges

We offer 30 days from delivery to request a return or exchange on eligible items (non-preorders, non-clearance, non-final sale, and non-custom cut items). This gives you time to check your order and ensure it meets your needs.

 

How to Request a Return or Exchange

  1. Check Item Eligibility:
    • Customized fabric orders, pre-orders, clearance sale, and anything marked final sale are not eligible for returns unless defective or incorrect.
    • Tools, notions, and other non-custom items must be unused, unopened, and in their original packaging.
  2. Contact Us First:
    • Email us at info@myfabricdresser.ca or send a message on our websites contact us form with your order number and reason for return as well as any photos relevant to your order.
    • We’ll provide you with a Return Authorization (RA) number and the correct address to send items back.
  3. Package Carefully:
    • Include the RA number on the outside of your package and inside with your items to help us process your return quickly.

 

Return Shipping & Fees

  • Return Shipping: Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the return is due to our error.
  • Restocking Fee: A 15% standard restocking fee will apply for returned eligible items to cover inspection and processing.
  • Refunding Shipping Costs: Any shipping fees are not refunded unless the return is due to our error.

 

Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items

If your order arrives with a problem:

  • Contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos and details.
  • We will work with you to replace or refund the affected items at no cost to you.

 

Lost in Mail

If your order doesn’t arrive and appears lost:

  • Contact the shipping company first through their contact channels and see if they can locate the package.
  • If they are unable to locate the package, file a claim with them first and then let us know.
  • We will follow up with the shipping company and shipping insurance after and discuss solutions afterwards with you.
  • Please note that packages that are (no-tracking) on the shipping methods such as lettermail do not have insurance and have no way to actually track those.  All other parcels ship with insurance and tracking.

 

Exceptions & Non-Returnable Items

  • Final Sale & Clearance: Items marked as Final Sale or Clearance cannot be returned or exchanged.
  • Pre-Orders: Pre-order items are cut to order specifically for each order and are final sale unless defective or incorrect.
  • Custom Requests: Custom orders or special cuts are not returnable.

 

Delivered to Incorrect Address

  • In the event that the order is delivered to the wrong address, please reach out to the shipping first in your region to check what options are available to you.
  • If the issue was due to customer error providing wrong address at checkout, we will try to work with you and see what options are available.
  • If the issue was due to an error on our end, we will make things right so contact us right away so we can determine the best solutions.

 

Parcels Rejected by Customer

  • If the package is refused at the customers address, the customer will need to contact the shipping company to make arrangements to pickup or to make alternative shipping arrangements.
  • Not all refused packages are returned, and for those that are returned may have additional return shipping costs. These costs are the responsibility of the customer.
  • Packages that do end up getting returned and confirmed by our staff will be subject to our standard restocking fee.  Actual shipping costs will be deducted from any applicable refund.

 

Parcels Rejected by Customers Country Laws/Customs Department (International Orders)

  • If the package is refused by the customers country, the customer will need to reach out to their broker and/or customs department to verify reasoning and seek solutions.
  • Customers are responsible for any customs duties, tariffs, VAT, or import taxes and other additional fees that may apply to their order. These fees are set by the destination country’s customs office and are not included in our product prices or shipping rates.  We are unable to predict or control these charges as they vary by country and order value.
  • Not all rejected packages are returned, and for those that are returned may have additional return shipping costs. These costs are the responsibility of the customer.
  • Packages that do end up getting returned and confirmed by our staff will be subject to our standard restocking fee. Actual shipping costs will be deducted from any applicable refund.
